Ten Things to Remember in Electronic Transaction

  • 01. Install the security program provided by Woori Bank.
    • Do not interrupt the installation of the program or interrupt the program from running once installed. If it does not install automatically, follow the guideline to manually install the security program before you continue with your electronic transaction.
  • 02. Never keep information related to e-financing in easily exposed places such as in a diary or wallet and never give out private information (including employees of financial institutions) to others.
    • Please refrain from saving your ID, password, account PIN, security card PIN, credit card number, CVC and any such information onto your computer nor should you disclose them to anyone, including employees of financial institutions. There are those who lie about working at the financial or public institutions to steal your information. Do not divulge your financial information to others unless you are at the teller's desk at the bank.
  • 03. Set financial account, certificate or other passwords differently and make periodic changes.
    • Avoid using your resident ID number, birth date, phone number, car number plate and/or consecutive numbers as passwords. Be sure that the log in ID and password for the portal sites (Naver, Daum, etc.) are different from those of the certificate and account/card PIN.
  • 04. Directly enter the financial transaction website address into the address field or use the 'My Favorites' function to access financial transaction websites. After you are done, check your balance and be sure to avoid phishing.
    • Never click the links on your email, bulletin board, loan websites and others. Type the website address of the institution yourself or use ‘My Favorites’ function to access the websites. After you are done, check your latest balance and be sure to avoid phishing sites disguised as banks. The fake bank websites do not offer such services as viewing your balance.
  • 05. Take advantage of the mobile phone SMS service that alerts you on e-financing transactions.
    • Financial institutions provide the SMS or email notification services to update your credit card use, transfer and other electronic transaction history. Take advantage of this service. When someone sues your identity to engage in the electronic transaction without your knowledge, it will be notified to you immediately. If you find the transaction suspicious, report immediately to the financial institutions in order to prevent loss.
  • 06. Save your certificate onto the removable storage devices such as USB.
    • The certificate is the electronic seal that identifies you in the internet banking. To ensure the security of the certificate and keep it safe from hackers, save it onto the USB, CD and other portable storage. NEVER save the certificate on the email inbox, portal site, webhard or others that people share.
  • 07. Refrain from the electronic transactions in the internet cafe or other public areas.
    • Sharing your computer with others leaves you susceptible to hackers and malignant codes or virus, like Trojan Horse. You may also be exposed to privacy risks if you download your certificate onto the shared computer for electronic transactions. Avoid electronic transactions in the public area as much as possible.
  • 08. Use Virus Vaccine or spy ware removal programs and install an updated Windows security patch.
    • Vaccine and spyware are good ways to keep your computer secure. Be sure that you automatically update your computer after it starts booting. Moreover, use the automatic Windows Update to be protected by the security program patch that keeps you safe from the latest hackers.
※ For more details on installation, refer to the Privacy Protection Guideline.

  • 09. Never open suspicious emails or postings on website bulletin boards and always run a vaccine program before opening or saving attachments.
    • Delete or ignore the emails or postings with obscure source that seems irrelevant to you. If you have to open the email or postings, run the vaccine program before you execute or install the attachments to see if they are not infected with virus.
  • 10. Should you receive a request for advance payments or loan conditions that are unreasonable and too good to be true, contact the call center of your bank because it is very likely to be a fraud.
    • If you need a loan, do not depend on phone or internet. Visit the loan company yourself to see if it is a credible company (whether it is officially registered as a loan company).
